Jose Dhondt's family have been producing Champagne for generations in Oger in
the Cote des Blancs. They use an antique wooden press for pressing their
vintages. Grapes are harvested slightly riper than other houses.
Third-generation winemaker Jose Dhondt, whose grandfather immigrated from
Belgium in 1924, has been managing the estate and making the wine since
Rose de Saignee boasts an exuberant nose of pomegranate and orange peel and
almond biscotti. The structure is concentrated and firm.
