Bouchard Beaune Grèves Vigne de l'Enfant Jésus 1er Cru 2017 MAGNUM
The name Vigne de l'Enfant Jésus refers to an old story involving the
future 'Sun King' Louis XIV of France. His birth was predicted by a
Carmelite nun, Marguerite du Saint Sacrement, and that order renamed
this vineyard to celebrate his birth. It belonged to that order
until 1791, when all church property was sold during the
Revolution. Bouchard made a bid for
this prestigious vineyard, 32 hectares in size and situated in
the heart of the Beaune Grèves appellation, of which it still has the
monopoly today.
