Along with the neighbouring Chambertin, Chambertin Clos de Bèze is the
most prestigious Grand Cru in Gevrey-Chambertin and is also one of the oldest
walled vineyards in France. The famous clos was created in the seventh century
by monks from the abbey of Bèze. Bouchard's Bèze which is made from
purchased fruit is a great example of the style with is power and complexity and
can easily be cellared for 20 or more years.
