Denis Mortet Gevrey Chambertin Lavaux St Jacques 2016
Blended from five parcels totaling 1.2 hectares across the terroir.
Lavaux is routinely the last Mortet site to be harvested due to the
vineyard's location, immediately next door to the Clos Saint Jacques, and in the
direct path of the cool air streams that flow down from the Combe de Lavaux.
Frost wiped out over half the crop here in 2016 and the resulting fruit was
super concentrated as a result. Although this was matured in 70% new oak, it's a
stunningly pure, deep, tightly coiled yet layered Lavaux.
