Domaine Ponsot Grand Cru Corton Charlemagne 2017

First produced in 2009, Ponsot's Corton-Charlemagne is drawn from two parcels, both in Aloxe: one on the Pernand border--in Le Charlemagne--and the second in Les Languettes. Again, Aligoté has historically played a part in the story here. The vines of Corton-Charlemagne were something like one-third Aligoté across the AOC once upon a time. This is a very fine example of this terroir with good concentration of white peach and golden delicious fruit, some kernel-like complexity, superb freshness and also grip and length. But it is so fine. It's surprisingly delicate for this terroir but lacks nothing in intensity. The finish is long and stony. It will make a wonderful bottle after 7-10 years.
