The Calderara Sottana is the smallest site that Giuseppe Russo works with,
favoured for its power and vibrancy. Think currants, morello cherries and
lashings of dried Mediterranean herbs and scrubland and you won't be far off
from those arid slopes that have - almost against all odds -
supported grapevines, chestnuts and olives for milennia.
