Henschke Hill Of Roses Shiraz 2018

Produced from 32-year-old Shiraz vines grown on a single block within the Hill of Grace Vineyard in Eden Valley, Hill of Roses reflects the distinct character of this celebrated site. Farmed using organic and biodynamic principles, the vines are a younger planting from the same lineage as Hill of Grace but not yet classified for inclusion in that bottling.

The 2021 vintage benefited from a mild summer and warm, dry autumn—ideal for slow ripening and flavour development. Hand-picked on March 31, the fruit was fermented and matured for 18 months in seasoned French oak, preserving purity while building structure and depth.

The wine reveals layers of blackberry, dark cherry, plum, and fresh herbs, supported by hints of pepper, sage, and spice. Fine tannins and vibrant acidity provide focus and length. With elegance and complexity, the 2021 Hill of Roses shows excellent ageing potential and speaks clearly of its origin in the ancient Eden Valley landscape.

Expected to cellar gracefully for over 30 years.
