Alkina Kin Night Sky GSM 2023

This refined Grenache, Shiraz and Mataro blend takes a more restrained approach to the classic Australian GSM style. Grenache leads at 47%, with 40% Shiraz and 13% Mataro, sourced from organically and biodynamically farmed parcels across varied schist, clay and sandstone soils. Whole bunch fermentation brings a lifted, savoury character, with tart cherry, pomegranate, green olive, dried herbs and terracotta notes. The palate is fine boned and tightly structured, with bright acidity, fine tannins and a subtle thread of liquorice and green tea through the finish. More elegant than muscular, it has an almost Italianate feel and plenty of cellar potential.
