Bondar Rayner Vineyard Shiraz 2023

This limited release Shiraz comes from the two oldest blocks of Bondar’s Rayner Vineyard, planted in 1950 and 1960.

The 1950 vines, dry grown on deep sand with ironstone, bring fragrance and finesse, while the 1960 block on shallow clay over limestone adds structure and depth. Dark cherry, blackberry and boysenberry are joined by violet, liquorice, savoury spice and subtle earthy notes. The palate is silky and medium bodied, with fine tannins and a saline, mineral edge.

Elegant rather than heavy, this is a beautifully composed McLaren Vale Shiraz with excellent ageing potential.
