Catena Zapata Malbec 2023

Catena Zapata Malbec 2023 is a high-altitude blend from Mendoza’s most important estate vineyards, crafted by Alejandro Vigil and Laura Catena. It reflects the family’s long study of mountain terroirs, combining fruit from Lunlunta, El Cepillo and Gualtallary to build complexity and balance.

The nose is expressive and layered, with ripe blackberry, plum and violet aromas lifted by hints of spice and graphite. The palate is finely structured, showing concentrated dark fruit wrapped in a fresh, mineral-driven frame. High natural acidity from the cool 2023 vintage brings energy and precision, while fine tannins give shape and length.

Elegant yet powerful, this Malbec shows purity and altitude definition rather than heaviness. It pairs beautifully with grilled steak, lamb cutlets or slow-cooked beef dishes, and has the structure to develop over 10–20 years in bottle.
