Cayuse Armada Vineyard Syrah 2020

A distinctive Walla Walla Valley Syrah shaped by rocky soils, low yields and hands off winemaking.

From Cayuse Vineyards’ Armada Vineyard in Oregon’s Walla Walla Valley AVA, this Syrah comes from a site planted among basalt cobblestones and ancient riverbed soils. Farmed organically and biodynamically, the vineyard produces naturally low yields, giving the wine plenty of concentration without sacrificing freshness.

Handpicked fruit is naturally fermented in concrete with 75% whole clusters, then aged for 21 months in large, mature French foudres, with a small portion of new oak. The result is savoury, structured and quietly powerful, with the rocky site adding a distinctive mineral edge. A natural match for slow cooked lamb, grilled meats or hearty vegetable dishes.
