Domaine Rougeot’s Clos des Roses 2023 offers a more delicate and floral interpretation of Pommard, shaped by its southeast-facing site on ancient alluvial soils near the Volnay border. The nose is lifted and perfumed, with rose petals, fresh strawberry, cherry and subtle spice layered over an earthy undertone.

The palate is silky and finely detailed, showing red berry fruit wrapped in a savoury, gently mineral frame. Rather than power, it leans into finesse and fragrance, finishing long with a soft earthy persistence.

Best enjoyed with a short decant in its youth, this Pinot Noir pairs beautifully with cured meats, roast beef, mushroom dishes or soft cow’s milk cheeses, and will develop further complexity with medium-term cellaring.
