Planted in 1993, this vineyard is set on hard red-brown clay threaded with veins of bluestone slate. Eighteen long rows run across the slope, dipping into sandy alluvial soils at the base and rising into richer bluestone higher up. The clay naturally reins in yields, building concentration, while the bluestone lends a fine mineral edge, almost graphite-like in its tannins. After fermentation, the wine was matured in French oak (20% new), adding subtle polish and complexity.
The 2024 release is dark, powerful and beautifully layered. Blackberry, cassis and ripe plum form the core, with cocoa and spice adding depth, all lifted by a tart vibrancy that keeps the wine fresh. The finish is long, smooth and finely structured a seamless balance of richness and poise. A wine with presence now, but with the structure to cellar gracefully for 15 years or more.
