In Praise Of Shadows Grenache 2024

The 2024 season brought variable conditions, but the dry-grown Grenache vineyards in Blewitt Springs and Clarendon benefited from vine age and deep soils, producing clean and beautifully balanced fruit. The core of the wine comes from the Bracken vineyard, with 25% whole-bunch fermentation and eight months’ maturation in a 2,400-litre foudre named “Bob.” Additional parcels from the Springs Hill and Smart vineyards added complexity through high whole-bunch ferments and extended maceration of up to 169 days. Most components were aged in seasoned 500-litre puncheons and 800-litre demi-muids, with one second-use Stockinger puncheon contributing extra structure.
