In Praise of Shadows Nera Nero d’Avola is a vibrant expression of this Sicilian variety, sourced from the Springs Hill Vineyard in Blewitt Springs, McLaren Vale. Handpicked and carefully crafted in small batches, it reveals fragrant cranberry, dark cherry and Satsuma plum, complemented by white pepper and aromatic Middle Eastern spice. The palate is generous yet beautifully fresh, with juicy red fruit, subtle savoury complexity and fine tannins lending structure without overwhelming its natural vibrancy. Fermentation with 11% whole bunches brings additional fragrance and texture, while gentle extraction preserves the wine’s purity. An elegant, medium bodied red, particularly suited to grilled lamb, charcuterie or Mediterranean dishes.
