The 2011 Brunello di Montalcino from Le Ragnaie reflects a warm vintage and the measured approach of proprietor Riccardo Campinoti. Made from Sangiovese, the wine shows the classic structure of Montalcino, with developed red fruit, dried cherry, savoury spice and earthy complexity alongside firm, mature tannins. Campinoti gave the 2011 Brunellos three years in oak, contributing further savoury and structural detail. Now entering a more evolved phase, it is a wine for those who enjoy Brunello with tertiary character rather than overtly youthful fruit. Best served with Tuscan dishes, slow cooked meats or aged pecorino.
