Mario Marengo Barolo 2020

M. Marengo 2020 Barolo from La Morra announces itself with bright, accessible fruit and a polished mouthfeel. A blend from Serradenari, Roncaglie, Boiolo and Fossati, each parcel was vinified separately and aged for twenty-four months in mostly neutral oak with a small portion in new barriques, resulting in clarity without heaviness. Candied cherry and cranberry sit beside rose petal and violet, while citrus lift and a clean mineral thread keep the wine fresh. Mid weight on the palate, the wine shows soft fruit texture balanced by gentle, yet firm tannins and a spice edged finish. Try with roast lamb or mushroom risotto.
