"“Grown, vintaged and bottled at Domain Moss Wood.” Moss Wood cabernet
sauvignon is the single vineyard, Margaret River version of Penfolds Bin 707.
Rich in oak and fruit, slippery smooth, crowd pleasing in a general sense and
concentrated in its flavour. The question often is: does it need all that
oak? The 2009 version left me slightly cold but the balance is better here.
Yes there’s a wealth of slippery, creamy, ultra-smooth oak but the wine’s
boysenberried, curranty fruit is right up to the task. This 2010 release has a
finesse that the 2009 lacked. Salty, brackeny, gravelly notes extend through the
finish and while there is good concentration of fruit flavour here I wouldn’t
call it any more than a smidge over medium weight. Fine, elegant tannin.
Ageability is assured. This release looks the goods." 93+ Points Campbell
