A reference Pinot Noir from the Côte de Nuits, the 2022 Clos de la Maréchale Rouge from Domaine Mugnier highlights why this monopole is considered one of the most important sites in Nuits Saint Georges.

The nose is expressive yet controlled, with red cherry, raspberry and subtle wild strawberry layered over iris, violet and a light floral perfume. On the palate it shows the classic structure of Nuits Saint Georges, but with Mugnier’s hallmark refinement, firm but fine tannins, a straight and composed line of fruit, and a gentle mineral depth rather than overt muscle.

There is quiet power here, with the wine gaining detail and perfume as it opens. It is built for patience, rewarding time in bottle with greater floral lift and complexity. A natural match for roast duck, game birds or earthy mushroom dishes.
