Nicolas Maillart Les Coupés Franc de Pied 2015 is a rare and deeply expressive Blanc de Noirs Champagne, made entirely from ungrafted Pinot Noir grown in the Premier Cru village of Écueil.

Rich and concentrated, the palate shows ripe red fruit, citrus, subtle spice and savoury depth, carried by fine acidity and a long, precise finish. There is real power here, but also plenty of detail and freshness.

The 1973 planted vineyard sits on sandy soils, with the wine fermented in new oak, aged on lees for nine months and bottled without malolactic fermentation, fining or filtration. Zero dosage keeps the style dry and structured.

Excellent with roast poultry, duck or mushroom dishes.
