Produttori del Barbaresco’s 2021 Montestefano Riserva is a powerful, full bodied expression of Nebbiolo from one of Barbaresco’s most structured vineyard sites. South and south east facing slopes over clay and limestone produce wines with ripe fruit, depth and impressive persistence.

The palate is built around red cherry and plum, with dried flowers, spice and a distinctive smoky savoury note. Firm but balanced tannins and fresh acidity give the wine shape and excellent ageing potential. Thirty months in large oak casks, followed by bottle ageing, adds complexity without masking the fruit.

Rich, serious and long lived, it suits braised meats, game or mushroom risotto.
