Salomon Estate Wildflower Syrah Viognier 2020

A bold Fleurieu Peninsula Shiraz with dark fruit, floral lift and the peppery character of a cooler maritime site.

Predominantly Shiraz with 7.5% Viognier, this 2020 blend is co fermented before spending 20 months in 300 litre French and American oak hogsheads. Ripe black cherry, dark chocolate and lavender lead into a rich, savoury palate layered with white pepper and herbal spice.

The Viognier adds a striking floral lift, giving the wine more freshness and aromatic detail than its weight suggests. Rich, tannic and full flavoured, it has plenty in common with Northern Rhône Shiraz while retaining the maritime influence of the Fleurieu Peninsula. A serious choice for lovers of big Australian Shiraz, particularly alongside slow cooked beef, lamb or smoky barbecue.
