Samuels Gorge Mourvedre 2022

A powerful McLaren Vale Mourvedre with plenty of depth, but enough detail and spice to keep it composed.

Blackberry, dark raspberry and plum lead the nose, followed by violet, smoky spice and a distinctive Szechuan pepper note. The palate is full bodied and concentrated, with dark fruit moving into leather, chocolate and savoury spice.

There is real structure here, with firm but ripe tannins and a long, tightly wound finish that should soften beautifully with time. At 14.5% alcohol, this is a serious expression of Mourvèdre and a strong match for slow braised lamb or charred barramundi.
