Shaw & Smith Lenswood Vineyard Chardonnay 2024

A cool climate Adelaide Hills Chardonnay with precision, depth and a clear sense of place. Shaw + Smith’s 2024 Lenswood Vineyard Chardonnay comes from an elevated, east facing site at 500 metres, where loam over clay and shale soils contribute to the wine’s distinctive character. A cool, wet flowering period reduced yields, while the milder conditions that followed helped preserve acidity and develop concentrated flavour.

Hand picked and carefully sorted, the fruit is gently whole bunch pressed before fermenting in 500 litre oak puncheons, 30% of which are new. Full malolactic fermentation and ten months in oak build texture and complexity without sacrificing freshness. Expect citrus, stone fruit, lifted florals and a fine flinty edge, carried by bright acidity and a long, composed finish. Enjoy with roast chicken, grilled seafood or a creamy mushroom dish. With careful cellaring, it can develop beautifully for up to 20 years.
